2008 Junior Fed Cup & Junior Davis Cup Highlights
Jamaica’s Junior Fed Cup (girls) Team of Simone Vranov-Brown, Lauren Vranov-Brown, Shantal Blackwood and Captain Kadija Richards and Junior Davis Cup (boys) Team of Brandon Burke (missing from photo), Jordan Harris, Joseph Ross and Captain Simon Casserly returned from San Pedro Sula, Honduras after creditable performances in the North/Central American and Caribbean Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup 16 & Under Qualifying competitions which ended on Sunday, April 12.
Jamaica’s girls finished seventh (7th) out of sixteen teams after defeating Panama 2-1 and Haiti 3-0 in their four-team group to advance to the quarter-final round despite losing their third group match to the strong Cuban team. The Jamaicans, who were one of the youngest teams in the competition with two thirteen year-olds, lost to the highly touted and top-seeded Bahamian team 3-0 in the quarter finals, but then beat the Netherlands Antilles 2-1 to clinch seventh position. The Bahamians won the competition defeating Puerto Rico 3-0.
