ImageAs of January 1st 2009 the following Tennis Anti-Doping Programme has been in effect:-

Who is covered?

All players who participate in the following agree to be bound by the provisions of the programme and to be available for testing at any time: -

  • ITF Junior Events
  • HTP & WTA Tour Tournaments
  • Grand Slam
  • Davis Cup and Fed Cup
  • Challenger Series
  • ITF Pro Circuit

Players Responsibility:

  • It is the players’ sole responsibility to know and to ensure that all persons from whom he takes advice (including medical personnel) knows what the programme requires.
  • It is the players’ sole responsibility to know himself what is on the prohibited list (all 9 pages of it).
  • It is the players’ sole responsibility to ensure that anything he ingests does not give rise to an offense. Intention, fault, knowledge or negligence does not need to be proven.
  • It is also the players’ sole responsibility to complete a Doping Control Form to ensure that he is immediately contactable by the ITF.

Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE’s):

It is possible to get a TUE for pre-existing conditions e.g. Asthma, but the player cannot take the medication until the TUE is granted.

What is covered?

The list of Prohibited Substances is a nine (9) page document which outlines the different substances and gives a description on each. We consulted with Graeme Isaacs of Monarch Pharmacy (Barbican) to check our First Aid Kit List and he has recommended the removal of the highlighted items (First Aid Kit list can be viewed below).

We are attaching a summary of the ITF Tennis Anti-Doping Programme (ITF Tennis Anti-Doping Wallet Card) which, if you are a player covered by the program you should:

- Carry it with you at all times

- Give a copy to your parents, coach, trainer and doctor.

Further information can be obtained at www.itftennis.com/anti-doping. Please review this information carefully.

Regards,
